Sustainable Finland Pledge
We at Ekomatkaajat want to act sustainably in everywhere we are, whether it is in Finland or abroad. We have signed the Sustainable Finland Pledge on the 26th of August in 2019.
Sustainable Travel Finland
We have taken part in the Sustainable Travel Finland workshop facilitated by Visit Finland Academy. We are currently participating in the Sustainable Travel Finland programme and are going through a sustainable development path. The path is built on both the international Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the regional and national development needs.
Helsinki Declaration
Helsinki Declaration is a commitment of the Finnish tourism industry to develop tourism in a sustainable way. We have signed the commitment on the 16th of January in 2020.
Collaboration with istutapuita.fi carbon sink project
According to the latest research, planting trees is the best single practice to fight against climate change. When you choose to travel via us to Finland or abroad, we plant one seedling and send you a certificate to your email address. All the forest planted by istutapuita.fi are FSC-certified (Forest Stewardship Council). Our collaboration began on the 11th of February in 2022.
Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism
We have signed the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, and we commit to halve our carbon footprint by 2030. On top of that, we dedicate ourselves to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
Global Tourism Plastics Initiative
We support Global Tourism Plastics citizens´ initiative and highly recommend our partners to consider the initiative in their own activities.
Ekomatkaajat is proud to be a signatory of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative led by the United Nations Environment Programme and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), in collaboration with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. As a signatory of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, we endorse the common vision to address the root causes of plastic pollution.
We commit to eliminate the plastic items we don’t need; innovate so all plastics we do need are designed to be safely reused, recycled, or composted; and circulate everything we use to keep it in the economy and out of the environment.
By 1st of April 2022, Ekomatkaajat commits to:
• Reduse plastic materials
• Reuse plastic packaging and items used
• Recycle all plastic made items
• Take actions to move from single use to reusable alternatives
• Engage our partners and clients to move towards reducing, reusing and recycling
• Encourage our partners and clients to take actions to move from single use to reusable alternatives.
Commitment 2050
With the help of volunteers, Ekomatkaajat is committed to protect sea turtles and ensure their preservation for generations to come. Ekomatkaajat challenges its partners all over the world to take part in the commitment and encourages its clients to commit themselves to the goal.
World Elephant Day Pledge
We are committed to help so that the awareness of the plight of the world´s elephants would reach a bigger audience. We have signed the commitment on the 11th of March in 2022.
Good Travel Seal Certificate
Ekomatkaajat got the certificate on the 13th March 2023.
